There is nothing more exciting when a couple inquires with us and wants to do a session at a location that most people would never think of.  Although, most of our engagement and couples sessions take place outdoors somewhere in the mountains or at the desert, we were excited to change it up and do a Downtown Los Angeles Engagement session at Grand Central Market!

Why Grand Central Market Was the Perfect Location for Our Couple

Dana and Justin reached out to us just two months before we had their scheduled session.  During their inquiry, they mentioned they loved the look of food bodegas in New York. Since they Iive in California, they wanted to do a Downtown Los Angeles engagement at Grand Central Market to get somewhat of the same vibe.  We scheduled a phone call with them and we all instantly connected and knew exactly how to execute their vision!  Fast forward to their session date, we met at Grand Central Market on the Hill Street entrance and had the best time third wheeling with them.  We say third wheeling because going into this session, we told them to think as if they were going on their first date together and we were there capturing it all!

The Famous Neon Signs

First spot we decided to shoot at was in front of the neon signs. Which is a very popular picture spot in the market.  Dana and Justin then ordered some drinks at the Oyster Gourmet and enjoyed sipping on them while we captured them sitting in front of the neon signs.  The bartenders that were working there were so sweet and let us take pictures at the bar.  They even put their drinks in champagne glasses to make it aesthetically pleasing.  It was such a sweet gesture!  Luckily, there wasn’t a ton of people at the time we started. So we were able to capture pictures of them without anyone getting in the way.  

Explored More of The Market

After we finished at this first spot, we moved on to walking down the market. As we were walking, the general managers of the market came up to us and congratulated the couple. They were so nice and excited to see that they chose to do their photos at Grand Central Market. So they offered to buy them merch! Dana and Justin ended up getting t-shirts and wanted to show them off in a picture. At this point, their session couldn’t go be anymore perfect!

Tacos and Ice Cream, But Make It Cute

After walking around for a bit, Dana and Justin wanted to order some tacos because, why not!? They sat and feed each other, making eating tacos look cute.  Once the tacos were done, we took some photos in the photo booth and spontaneously decided to order ice cream cones. Then they did a quick outfit change and met us outside in front of the Million Dollar Theatre.  

Angels Flight

We then ended the session on the opposite site of the market where we first started (on Hill St.) and captured some photos of them walking through the streets and in front of Angels Flight.  It was honestly the most perfect Downtown Los Angeles engagement session and we were so grateful for all the wonderful vendors at the market who made us and the couple feel so welcomed.  Kind people really are the best!
