What a fun session this was! Joleen and Steven, high school sweethearts, have been together for an incredible 18 years. When they reached out to us to document their wedding, we couldn’t have been more excited! Joleen and Steven share a beautiful love story and have two amazing children. They are also both Northview High School alumni—just like Ally. Woo, go Vikings!

Why They Chose a Los Rios District Engagement

When it came to planning their engagement session, Joleen and Steven wanted a location that felt meaningful and picturesque. Since their wedding will be held at Franciscan Gardens, located in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, they knew a Los Rios District Engagement would be the perfect fit.

The Los Rios Historic District is one of the most charming and timeless places for an engagement session. With its historic adobe homes, lush gardens, and cozy hidden pathways, it offers countless stunning backdrops. This made it an easy choice for capturing their love story in a warm and intimate way.

The Perfect Setting for an Engagement

On the day of their session, we met at Hidden House Coffee, a charming little café that serves as a great meeting spot before exploring. After grabbing a quick coffee, we started strolling through the district, stopping at some of the most scenic spots along the way.

One of the best things about a Los Rios District is that every corner of this historic area is photo-worthy. From the colorful flowers to the rustic wooden fences, there is no shortage of beautiful locations. One of our favorite spots was behind the Montañez Adobe, where towering cacti and glowing golden light created the perfect atmosphere for dreamy portraits.

Golden Hour Magic

As the sun began to set, we made our way through town, capturing even more magical moments in front of the San Juan Capistrano Mission and the local theater. The golden hour light wrapped around Joleen and Steven beautifully, making their session feel even more romantic and timeless.
